Designed using a soft, pastel palette to create a pretty, welcoming garden for a family with two young children, this space provides plenty of opportunity to pick flowers and touch soft grasses. Originally a collection of rigid rows of prickly roses, the garden is now texturally rich with a looser sweeping planting scheme. The best roses of the collection were saved and add a romantic touch to the long-blooming, butterfly-attracting plants. The backyard provides a space for energetic play with an “area rug” of lawn for picnics and naps in the sun. The backyard is planted with compatible plants for the family’s hens.
